The Islamists' Need to Feel Wronged

As "the true focus behind jihad…. is to defend, not destroy", the Muslim world is constantly looking for excuses to confirm the need to feel wronged to justify attacks on American and Western interests. The US should by now have understood that because Islamic anger and terror are always on the search for these excuses, one must never fall for them. The Islamists do not want co-existence; they want surrender.

When the truth finally came out that three loyal Americans and the American Ambassador had been murdered in Benghazi, Libya, on 9/11/12 as the result of a calculated terror attack and not, as the White House had been insisting for two weeks, a YouTube video made privately by an American and released months earlier, the President abruptly changed his discredited story, and surreally tried to slip the world into believing he had called that attack an act of terror all along.

It must be difficult for any American administration to deal with aggressors in the Muslim world; so far it has been treating them as if they were immature, spoiled children who must be given their way.

What America fails to, or does not want to, understand is that Islamic scriptures forbid Muslims to take non-Muslims as friends, or even as partners worthy of cooperation, compromise or equal rights: "O you who believe! do not take the Jews or Christians for friends…or helpers." [Qur'an 5:51; 3:28; 3:118; 9:23; 53:29; 3:85; 3:10; 7:44, and 1:5-7; and half a dozen entries from the Hadith] Although for Western consumption there have been attempts to tart up how these verses are interpreted, throughout the Arab and Muslim world, they are clearly understood by most Muslims to mean what they say: "Smite the neck" means "smite the neck," as can see nearly every week, from innocent civilians blown up on the streets, to the recent attempted murders of a teenage girl for the crime of wanting an education; for even allegedly mishandling a Qur'an, or for enduring gang rape].

One would think that America, after 9/11/01, would have learned, that, as "the true focus behind jihad…. is to defend, not destroy", the Muslim world is constantly looking for excuses and cracks of weakness to confirm the need to feel wronged, to justify attacks on American and Western interests.

Muslims have learned from their history that terror works. They have also learned that for terror to achieve its goal of surrender, the Islamic tender touch must accompany the terror: both the Islamic father who holds the stick and the Islamic mother who hugs while the father is beating.

The US should also by now have understood that just because Islamic anger and terror are constantly on the search for these excuses, one must never fall for them. Islamist chatter in the Arab media and on Arab websites is constantly itching for confrontation and looking for justification for terror. It was possibly this mindset that prompted the U.S. embassy in Cairo to release the following statement condemning the video even before any attacks on the Cairo embassy:

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."

Four hours after the release of this statement, crowds stormed the embassy, destroyed the U.S. flag and replaced it with an Islamic flag. By issuing such a statement, the US embassy in Cairo, not only took the bait, itprovided the bait by creating the excuse the Islamists needed. The anger in Egypt about the two-month-old video, which had to come out exactly on the eve of 9/11, should have been proof enough that it was merely a pretext.

As someone born and raised in the Muslim world, I know that Islamic anger and terror against the West lurks and lies in wait for any excuse to explode at the culture that is the object of their jihad. Jihad, once the pride of the Islamic world, is now an international crime that Muslims have learned to camouflage as self-defense. Not one mosque Friday sermon in the Middle East is devoid of cursing of the non-Muslim (kafir) enemies of Islam. As jihad is a violation of the rights of others, both individuals and nations, Muslims have become all too eager to assert their victimization by others, meanwhile looking for an opportunity for weakness in their prey, a flinch or an apology, which they consider a signal to do their holy violence.

When anyone dares to say jihad means violence, or when violence is committed in the name of Islam, the so-called moderate Muslims are outraged but manage to look the other way. The more some Muslims terrorize, while others stand by in denial, the more they confuse, soften and weaken their victim. While one face of Islam is doing the terror, the other face tells the world, we love peace, so please don't you dare judge us by our terrorists because if you do, we will riot, kill, and burn. Both faces of Islam work together; one cannot survive without the other.

We now have an American president who refuses to make the American people number one for his empathy, and would rather cater to the outside world and to the cat and mouse game they are playing with American sensibilities. Many in American mainstream media and government have turned not against the perpetrators, but against the victims of Islam, whether they are Americans, Egyptian Copts, or apostates of Islam. To many in the government and in the media who think they know better, these objects of Muslim breach of trust are simply "Islamophobes" or "racists." Members of the government and the media have denied the American people the right to identify their enemy and eradicate it. They have turned a blind eye to American victims of terror and their families and disregarded America's need for a healing process based on justice. By saying that Americans and Europeans are to blame, Western governments and the media have, like the President, been refusing to treat Americans as adults.

America, with its superpower knowledge and status, has fallen for the old tricks of Islamic culture; many believe they must have done something wrong to deserve terror, if not over a movie, over a cartoon or a video or, as with kindergarten children in Africa, over a stuffed teddy bear. 'How dare we deal with these dictators?', they may think; or, 'How dare we liberate these people from their tyranny?' Human rights groups would say those were acts of aggression or acts of interfering with their internal affairs -- and all excellent excuses for jihad.

Many Americans, unable to stand up and call the terror attack by its name, have reacted to 9/11 by blaming each other but never the perpetrator of the terror. That old Arab trick has always worked on many cultures, such as the Coptic Christians when Egypt used to be a pluralistic Christian nation and a superpower.

Consciously or unconsciously, the American people elected as their first president after 9/11/01, Barack Hussein Obama, a man proud of his Islamic heritage, who seems to have believed that during his administration, because of his unique heritage and understanding of Islam, he was best fit for bringing about a reconciliation between the West and Islam.

But when the Muslims did not reach out and take Obama's "outstretched hand," and attempted terror attacks were repeated under Obama's watch, no matter how hard he tried, both Obama's credibility and Islamic excuses were threatened, Obama's legacy of being the only president in recent history who managed to have no major terror attack during his presidency, was destroyed. He now has nothing to show for having changed American/Muslim world relationship, except for emboldening Islamism by a refusal to say even one word to deter it. He now cannot say that everything he did was worth it for the sake of peace and that those who criticized his appeasement, his bow to the Saudi kind and his Cairo speech, were right.

Obama appears to have been aiming at a legacy of peace with Islam, but that legacy came crashing down with the terror attack on 9/11/12. The Muslim world was most likely disappointed with Obama who they thought was not appeasing enough. But then again, the Islamists always want more -- more than what Obama or any other president can give them; they do not want co-existence, they want surrender.

Obama's theory failed. He overestimated himself and his belief that he understands the Muslim world and will show future presidents how to do it has also failed.

In desperation, Obama pursued a policy of denial in an attempt to save face. He went as far as telling the American people, just like many Muslims do, that terrorism is really not terrorism and that it must be because of a logical reason and that Muslims are reasonable people without an agenda of jihad.

The video became the handy excuse not only for the Egyptian people to save face, but also for the Obama administration to save face. If that excuse came at the expense of the truth, or the lives of American diplomats and heroic Navy SEALS and servicemen, then so be it. Many Americans are proud they finally have their first black president, but as someone born and raised in Egypt, I see many similarities between Obama and the Arab leaders I grew up with. Obama might be best described as the first Arab president.

If You Convert You Die

Very few people in the West know what is going on inside the Muslim world and what it portends for them. The fact is that through the dominant media, such as CNN, Americans are subjected to much of the same misinformation with regard to Islam that I grew up with inside the Muslim world. The result is that Americans are in the dark attempting to formulate their strategy of how to defend themselves against the threat of terror, domestic jihad and Sharia. While Americans get ridiculed for being “Islamophobes,” the Muslim world itself is undergoing a huge and painful awakening.
For instance, a prominent Egyptian lawyer and women’s rights activist, Nagla Al Imam, recently announced her conversion to Christianity in Cairo, Egypt. The announcement brought shock waves in and beyond Egypt. This is perhaps the first case ever of its kind, where a Muslim woman, who is also a Sharia expert, has openly challenged Islamic apostasy laws from within the Muslim world.
Ms. Al Imam’s incredible courage was on display in an internet chat room, where she announced that she is not afraid, will stand up for the human rights of apostates and refuses to leave her homeland, Egypt. This was immediately followed by attacks and calls (‘fatwas’) for death of the 36 year-old graduate of Al Azhar Islamic University.
Egyptian media not only reported the threat but also participated in the attacks. Ms. Al Imam was literally entrapped by a TV station ‘Al Mihwar’ with the pretext of inviting her for an interview. Upon arrival to the TV studio she was told the show she was to appear on was cancelled. She was then taken forcibly to a room where she was held against her will for hours inside the studio. She was assaulted, threatened and insulted by several people. She was able to escape, and went to her internet chat room telling the world what happened and said she will demand protection from the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Such action is common not only against apostates but anyone who deviates from the dictates of Islam or demands reform. Many Muslim journalists, intellectuals and feminists who consider themselves Muslims but are critical of Sharia are often intimidated, threatened or even killed for the slightest independent views using the apostasy card to keep them quiet.
Another recent case in Egypt is that of a brilliant intellectual by the name of Sayed Mahmoud El Qemany. He was recently accused of apostasy even though he denied it on TV and insisted he is still a Muslim. But fatwas of death were immediately issued against him. Mr. El Qemany recently wrote the following:
“I was granted the State Award for Social Sciences, on June 25th 2009. The hard-line radical militant groups considered that the state has adopted this intellectual secular trend
officially, infuriating the mentioned group which called on the State to withdraw the prize with the declaration of my defection from Islam and excommunication which means in our country, I could be slain; any citizen is allowed to kill me and be awarded by God in Paradise. The following parties have participated in the statements of atonement:
1 - Al-Azhar Scholars Front headed by Yahya Ismail Habloush, which issued the first statement of atonement on July 10, 2009.
2 – The Islamic Group (condemned terrorist group) issued a statement of atonement on July 10, 2009.
3 - The Muslim Brotherhood hailed the atonement, and were presented at the parliament by Hamdi Hassan requesting the withdrawal of the award and the declaration of religious-defection and excommunication on July 7, 2009. The Muslim Brotherhood also declared my excommunication on Mohwar Channel on July 11, 2009 and on Al Faraeen Channel on July 13, 2009.
4 - The Salafi (Fundamentalist) Group (condemned terrorist group) dedicated its Internet site named "The Egyptians" for excommunicating me and incitements to kill me, since the date of obtaining the prize until today.
5 – Al Nas channel, which represents the theoretical side of bloody terrorism which declared excommunication and demanded “all citizens who can” to kill me immediately, on July 24 and 25, 2009.
6 - The Hisbah Sheikh Youssef Al Badri in Egypt declared on the channel "ON TV" on July 3, 2009 that I have cursed God and the Prophet Mohammad in my books even though I have challenged him and others to refer to a single text written by me where such claims were made. Due to this proclamation, he has issued an incitement to kill me.
7 - A member of the Al-Azhar scholars, Sheikh Mohammed El Berry, on Mihwar TV Channel on July 11, 2009 announced my atonement as he also said that he did not read any of my writings since he does not read "garbage”. He repeated the same words on the channel "ON TV" on July 22, 2009.
8 - Sheikh Ali Gomaa, the former Chairman of the “State Religious Affairs Advisory Board”, issued a statement declaring my infidelity and calling for slaying me for "insulting the Prophet of Islam, the God of Islam” on July 24, 2009.
9 - The Sheiks of more than 5000 mosques on Friday prayers on July 24, 2009 declared the incitement to kill me, especially in my hometown, which led to the rampage against my family and relatives, and that could possibly evolve to some serious consequences in the coming weeks.
Due to the above, I call upon the conscience of all humanity in the free world to come to me and my children’s rescue by providing moral support and the condemnation and denunciation of the radical thinking with quick solutions to save us from the danger that is luring around us. This is a distress call to all bodies and individuals. A call to the consciences of every free individual in the world.

In spite of the cover up, this is perhaps the first time in the history of Islam that Muslims finally have access to the truth about their own religion, thanks to the Internet and satellite dishes (invented by infidels). There are daily news reports of heart-broken Muslims who say they cannot believe what is written in Muslim scriptures and say that Muslims have been living under the greatest lie in human history. Others simply deny and say that it can’t be so. While Saudi Arabia is spending billions to Islamize the West, many Muslim prisoners of Islamic submission are dying or leaving the religion quietly.
The relatively few number of Muslims who dare to convert to Christianity do it in extreme secrecy. That is because the penalty for leaving Islam is death in all schools of Sharia, both Sunni and Shiite. Those who wrote Sharia centuries ago knew that keeping Muslims in total submission would be very difficult to maintain, and thus they established barbaric laws condemning Muslims to death for exercising their basic human rights to choose their own religion. Sharia never entrusted its enforcement only to the formal legal system. Islam promises heavenly rewards to individual Muslims who take the law into their own hands. Sharia also states that the killers of apostates and adulterers are not murderers and therefore are not to be punished. That is why, for Islam to achieve 100% compliance to Sharia enforcement, Muslim individuals are encouraged to take matters into their own hands.
The end result is a chaotic society where everything happens behind closed doors but at a very heavy price to interpersonal relationships. Fear and distrust of others exists in all Muslim societies. Muslims are not just distrustful of the West, but they are distrustful of one another. In Muslim society, people are often more afraid of their neighbors and family members than of the police. Thus, we see husbands or fathers pressured to apply Sharia by killing an adulterous wife or daughter, or a perfect stranger participate in the killing of an apostate in the public square. Very few get arrested or punished for such crimes across the Muslim world. The ingenious Sharia uses vigilante street justice to bring about Islamic submission. That is why civil unrest and honor crimes go wherever Islam goes. The power of Islam comes from turning Muslim against Muslim -- with a reward in heaven.
The above two examples of Islamic tyranny are not unique to Egypt, but exist in all Muslim countries. Islamic tyranny is encapsulated in a law that some Muslims claim to be their religious right in America. Many American citizens who left Islam are living in constant fear from Islamist individuals and groups right here, in the land of the free and home of the brave. I am one of them.

Women: A World Apart

Recently I spoke at Wellesley College and  a  large  number  of  female members of the Muslim Student Association attended. As I described the plight of seven Iranian women awaiting death by stoning for sexual violations, I saw no compassion towards their sisters in Islam.  I saw  only  rigid  faces  and hardened,  unsympathetic  hearts.  Some even made faces at me as I spoke. These young educated Muslim women live in America under the protection of the U.S.

Constitution, far removed from the harsh realities of Sharia law I experienced.

I lived in the Middle East under Family Sharia for 30 years and witnessed its cruel and inhumane treatment of women. When I was a teenager, our maid (who was my age) was pregnant as a result of forced rapes by her boss at the home where she previously worked. My mother, who did not want to send her back to her family because of the possibility she would be killed, sent her to a government facility. A year later, we learned the young maid was killed by her father and brother to protect the family honor.

I witnessed female genital mutilation, a common practice that my mother and almost all her generation were forced to endure. I also witnessed polygamy and its devastating effect on family dynamics,   husband-wife relationships, women-to-women relationships, and the upbringing of children. READ MORE...

Obama’s True Legacy: Not Healthcare

Even though President Obama always said that Afghanistan was the good war that we should fight, his true intention was to withdraw from Afghanistan. This has been confirmed in Robert Gates’ new memoir, “Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War,” in which the former Secretary of Defense demonstrates that Obama does not believe in his own strategy regarding the Afghan war and that the president always just wanted to extricate America out of the conflict.

Forcing America out of Afghanistan was what all Arab and Islamic countries have hoped to achieve. Muslims have zero tolerance for infidel foreigners on Muslim land, even if the land is being used as a base by al-Qaeda for terrorism. That is Islamic logic.

Obama appears to be unsettled and torn in his decision-making process; a dangerous characteristic for any leader. That is probably the reason why his Affordable Care Act was a disaster — because, with Obama, there is often a gap between what he wants and what he does. We are told over and over again that Obamacare was the president’s signature legislation, but could it be that Obamacare is just like the president’s Afghan strategy, in which Obama says one thing, but does not really have his heart in his words?

What exactly is Obama’s true passion?

A signature legislation should take the full attention of the president in terms of crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s. It is what every president oversees at every step to avoid any embarrassment, especially if such legislation was passed without a single vote from the opposing party. Even though health care has always been central to the agenda of the Democratic Party, it does not appear to be number one on Obama’s mind because he totally relied on others to create and oversee Obamacare. However, he did appear very invested in it and rushed it through Congress by totally relying on Nancy Pelosi, who was the one who appeared to have true passion for it. Obama gave her total authority even to make ridiculous statements like “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” Obamacare served to keep Obama’s core supporters happy and hypnotized. Even though Obamacare has turned out to be a disaster, Obama’s supporters have never publicly acknowledged how Obama has failed them with such a defective product.

Only Obama, the first black president, could get away with such deception of his own constituents. Up to the Obama presidency, a high level of insincerity, double talk and deception were rarely an acceptable characteristic of American leaders. Americans understood the consequences to cultures that are tolerant to lying. Habitual tolerance to lying is a major reason why Banana Republics are economic and political basket cases where citizens have no problem with lying unless it hurts them personally.

Some leaders in the Arab world are especially prone to lying out of necessity. They must lie often because they live in a twisted world where truth is penalized and lies are embraced as the honorable thing to do. Every Arab leader understands that assassinations, coup d’etats and revolutions are not only a way of life, but often legal.

While Arab leaders are forced to lie to literally save their necks, Obama is using this insincere strategy for convenience. Why is he saying one thing and doing another? What leads him to consistently tell lies to the American people? Could it be that he knows he can get away with it?

Politicians in America of course do stretch reality, exaggerate and even lie, but if they are caught lying they are often finished, especially if they are Republicans. But Obama appears to be immune from scrutiny. Many American would rather put up with Obama’s insincerity, incompetence and lying than be called racist.

Obamacare is a mess that could only be the product of an insincere president who uses outwardly acceptable strategies that are at odds with his own internal struggles. In Afghanistan his intention was withdrawal; nevertheless he went along with the surge first, while simultaneously telegraphing to the enemy the expiration date. In healthcare his intention was socialized medicine but instead he destroyed the US health care system.

In that sense, Obama is similar to some leaders in the Middle East who say one thing and do another. Arab leaders, in order to be perceived as great jihadists, recklessly threaten to throw Israel in the sea, but never actually do the hard work to examine their abilities, motivation or the honesty and sincerity of their goal. The end result was miserable failure in the 1967 war; a natural outcome of insincere goals.

Now Obama’s insincerity brought us Obamacare; a miserable failure. If Obamacare was not the center of Obama’s ambitions, what then will Obama’s legacy be?

Like all presidents, Obama’s legacy will be decided by history, but the one thing that Obama seems to have succeeded in doing was the one thing closest to Obama’s heart, which acted upon first thing after he assumed office. It is bowing and being of service to the Muslim world.

Obama’s legacy will be the empowerment of Islam in America, especially in red states and the Bible belt, where Muslim immigrants are flocking in large numbers and are building mosques at a breakneck pace to challenge the Judeo/Christian culture of the heartland. The same has also taken place at the international arena where the Muslim Brotherhood and radical Islam have been empowered by the Obama administration, resulting in al-Qaeda dominating huge areas of the Middle East causing civil wars and chaos around Israel.

The difference between the negative effect of ObamaCare and Obama’s fumbles with the Muslim Brotherhood penetration, both inside and outside America, is that the former is repairable and can be overturned, but the latter will be hard to limit in terms of its damages and the resulting future instability, not only within the US but in the entire world for decades to come. The cleanup job for the next administration will be tremendous and perhaps impossible.

Obama will go down in history as the one who opened the door to the Islamic Trojan Horse. Obamacare was just the distraction we all fell for.

Surpassing Shylock

Arab feminists, reformers and intellectuals are intimidated, threatened or killed in the Middle East. Even the late Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, was stabbed in Cairo in 1994 by a radical Muslim who claimed that Mahfouz insulted Islam.

Americans of Muslim Arab origin, like myself, who speak out against jihad, terrorism and anti-Semitism, also confront threats and shaming from those who want to silence us. This does not necessarily come from radical Islamist clerics, but often from highly educated Arabs working in prominent institutions of higher learning in the US.

On September 24^th, and out of nowhere, I received an e-mail from Dr. Houria I. Hassouna, an Egyptian female professor at Michigan State University. The subject of her e-mail said: “A weight of carion flesh than to receive 3,000 ducats.” And she proceeded to describe me in the body of the email as: “You surpass the Shylock described by Shakespeare in the Merchant of Venice.”

To those who are unfamiliar with the William Shakespeare play Merchant of Venice, Shylock played the character of a mean Jew who refused to forgo a pound of Antonio’s flesh which he has earned by an archaic law rooted in religion. Shylock rejected the offer of 6,000 ducats instead of the 3,000 that Antonio owed him so that he could revenge himself upon the Christian merchant.

What Dr. Hassouna was trying to tell me in her e-mail was that I am worse than a Jew. Muslim law agrees with her because a Muslim should never soften, forgive or befriend Jews. Being a former Muslim who runs a website called “ArabsForIsrael.com,” I believe that the Jewish people are Middle Eastern people who contributed a lot to Middle East culture, society and religion, larger in proportion than the size of Israel. I also speak openly about the Jewish people’s rights to their own State, Israel, and its capital, Jerusalem.   

Dr. Hassouna apparently never got over the hate and anti-Semitic propaganda that Muslim children are spoon-fed in the Middle East. She also does not believe that Arab Americans should be able to expose and criticize radical Islam and the culture that produce thousands upon thousands of men who are ready to kill others for the sake of the expansion of Islam around the world.

I remember the many films on Arab TV dehumanizing Jews and depicting them in the worst possible manner. Muslim kids were told that Jews were monsters who wanted to kill them. When you fill the heart of Muslim children with such propaganda, hatred comes easy and terrorism acceptable. Such films still exist on Egyptian TV and are watched by thousands right here in America through satellite dishes. The last film I saw was called “A Girl from Israel” where an Israeli family visiting the Sinai deceive, rape and kill Egyptian kids.

I do not receive a lot of hate mail, but when I do, the worst comes from University professors, especially from those of Middle East origin, like myself. Ms. Hassouna, like many so called “moderate Muslims,” reveals her deep-rooted anti-Semitism and, in spite of her migration to the US and getting a PHD from American Institutions of higher learning, she still could not shed this hate indoctrination or the taboo against self-criticism in Muslim scriptures. Some of the most anti-Semitic Muslims are non-practicing intellectual Muslims. Our college campuses are full of Middle East professors who came to study in the US, thanks to scholarships from Uncle Sam, but who are spreading the poison of hatred of the old culture and are trying to silence people like myself who are promoting respect, peace and understanding between Arabs and Jews.

There are many heavy-handed attempts to silence me and the few others who are committed to peace and exposing the root causes of jihad against Israel and the West. Such attempts are a symbol of the hateful past we lived under and they simply strengthen my commitment to promoting peace and forgiveness to a culture that has forgotten what living in peace truly means.

The Latest in Islamic Revisionism

Many are familiar with the concept of revisionist history — the rewriting of past events to reflect a particular bias — but there is a contemporary example that receives far too little attention in our American media, that being the history of Jews in the Middle East.

Palestinian apologists have made a major industry out of creating a past for themselves by distorting the archeological record.  What cannot be distorted is ignored, and what cannot be ignored has, in some cases, been destroyed.  Not surprisingly, this particular form of historical reconstruction invariably finds the lowly Jew to be an interloper in the Middle East — not only now, but throughout all of discernable history.

One such apologist, Mr. Maen Rashid Areikat, “honored” our fair city of Omaha, Nebraska recently when he spoke at the invitation of the Global Studies Conference at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  Mr. Areikat is the director-general at the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Negotiations Affairs Department and a close advisor of Mahmoud Abbas.  He is presently the chief representative of the PLO delegation to the United States.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently described Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani as “a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”  He might wish to apply that description to Areikat, a man for whom the phrase may well have been coined.

Mr. Areikat’s message is a simple one.  Jerusalem belongs to the Palestinians and, by extension, to Islam.  Of course, his message has far fewer sharp edges when he delivers it to non-Muslims.  He adopts a folksy, world-weary tone when calling for a Palestinian state, as if he has been single-handedly standing up to the recalcitrant Israeli leadership, and while desperate for help, he remains too humble to ask.

In an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal last year, Areikat presented the case that a Palestinian state is in Israel’s best interests.  He championed the preferred narrative of the anti-Israeli left with a deftness born of mindless repetition, repeating the long-debunked argument that the Jewish claim to Jerusalem is no stronger than that of the Palestinians.  He goes on to contrast the “brutal” Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza against the Palestinian Authority’s altruistic efforts to normalize relations.

When he is not as guarded in his speech, Areikat reveals the white bone of Islamic inflexibility.  Asked in an interview if the Jews ever had a Temple in Jerusalem, he demurred, saying only, “I’m not an historian.”

When pressed, he doubled down on his newly minted understanding of history, asserting that Jews were never part of Jerusalem — that the “Jewishness” of a place known for millennia as the “City of David” is in fact a myth, despite literally thousands of years of archeological evidence putting the lie to his self-serving construct.

While the concept of a historically non-Jewish Jerusalem is increasing in popularity among the anti-Semitic left, it remains curious that Arabs continue to demand control over Jerusalem, when it’s abundantly clear from the Koran itself that neither Allah nor Mohammed ever intended it for Muslims in the first place.  As far as the Koran is concerned, Muslims have no more claim to Jerusalem than Jews have to Medina.

Jewish authority over Jerusalem should come as no surprise to Islamic scholars.  In Surah 2:144-147, the Koran describes Allah’s gift of Mecca to Mohammed.  In this passage, we find Mohammed pouting that he had been mocked by the Jews for making use of their city, Jerusalem, as a focus of worship.  He didn’t deny Jewish authority over Jerusalem; he simply fumed that Islam had no place of its own — an unfortunate situation that Mohammed (er…I mean Allah!) moved to remedy posthaste.

From the very beginning, Mohammed appropriated much of Jewish and Christian tradition for inclusion in his new religion, but Islam was not yet complete, as it lacked a “Holy City” — a deficit that spawned a sixth-century version of “keeping up with the Joneses,” if you will.

According to Islamic tradition, Allah sent the angel Gabriel to “re-orient” Mohammed during prayers, pointing him toward Mecca.  From a purely logistical standpoint, early Muslims could count themselves lucky that Mohammed assumed that Allah meant to give them Mecca and not, say, Zanzibar, which lay in the same direction, only a scant two thousand miles farther.

The point being, not only did Allah and his prophet Mohammed show clear deference for the Jewish claim to Jerusalem, but this reality was confirmed and continued under “Omar the Conqueror,” Mohammed’s successor and the most powerful and influential caliph in Islamic history.

While Omar is widely known as the conqueror of Jerusalem, what is not so well-known is that after he conquered the city he promptly repopulated Jerusalem with Jews, repatriating them from the Arabian Peninsula, providing an ironic prefiguration of the establishment of the modern state of Israel centuries later.

Clearly, Omar felt that Jerusalem was a city for the Jews and encouraged their residence in a homeland they hadn’t seen since the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D.  Omar constructed a small mosque in Jerusalem, allowing him the ability to maintain the spiritual health of the Muslim garrisons left to defend Jerusalem from the Romans, but otherwise granted Jews authority over their spiritual and ancestral home.  Omar, successor of Mohammed, believed that the Jewish claim to Jerusalem was absolute, transcending five centuries of exile.

All this brings us full circle to Mr. Areikat, and his creative revisionism of long-established historical record.  In the spirit of fairness, the level of silliness that has come to hallmark the Islamic attempts to write themselves into a history they themselves never experienced cannot be laid solely at the feet of Areikat.  He simply parrots the narrative du jour, embellishing as needed to tailor the story to his audience.

To the uninitiated, Areikat’s words have a soothing quality, coaxing a long-ailing sense of hope from the listener, stirring a belief that at long last they may have encountered an authentic negotiating partner.  It is important for us to realize, however, that Areikat is powerless without the hope harbored by non-Muslims that perhaps an acknowledgment of his viewpoint may herald a break in the present impasse.

It is the sanitized version of Maen Rashid Areikat our students heard speak in Omaha on the 3^rd of October, 2013.  It is Areikat’s revision of history that they carried away with them, greatly misinforming their view of the Mid-East conflict.

It’s regrettable that the students didn’t learn the unedited plan for the Middle East sought by Areikat — the version that declares any future Palestinian state must be “Jew-free,” requiring the forced removal of all Jews as a condition of Palestinian sovereignty.

Despite his rhetoric, perhaps even Areikat himself senses the weakness of his own argument.  When asked about the decline of social interactions between Jew and Arab, he lets slip a glimpse behind the veils of obfuscation and fantasy that have characterized the “history” of the “Palestinian people.”

“I remember when I traveled to Europe in the late ’70s, and to the United States in the early ’80s, yes, we thought of ourselves as Palestinians, but we were traveling with Jordanian passports. Publicly we are Jordanians, but deep inside we are Palestinians.”

Therein lies the truth Areikat himself has tried so hard to conceal: there is no such thing as a “Palestinian.”

Ariel Sharon vs. Barack Obama: A Case Study in Leadership

Ariel Sharon, a rare man of conviction, may you rest in peace.  You were the first to rescue your Israeli soldiers who were stranded on the front line during the 1973 Yom-Kippur war.  This is in contrast to our current American leader, who went to bed and then off to a fundraiser in Las Vegas while knowing that Americans were under fire in Benghazi.

Israel & Muslims’ Myths

I'm afraid I don't put much credence in common gossip but I overwhelmed and shocked about a nonsense generally raised question in the Muslim world, that should Israel even exist or should the Jews even have a homeland? It’s a completely hallucination and aberration even to ask, if Israel should exist. How silly, dehumanizing and insulting for a Muslim if I argue and ask same question in other way that Saudi Arabia has the right to exist? Why Muslims not understand and respect the feelings of 14 million Jews, why more than 1.6 billion Muslims downright hostile to the tiny Jewish state?
Sincerely Muslims’ concerns and miseries really touch my heart, although they deserve all such as natural retribution of their deeds. I cannot blame the Israel, Europe or USA for the ‘miseries’ of the Muslim countries. I can only blame Muslims’ common culture, mindset and their Madrasa based envenom education which used and abused to whole Muslims since centuries. I am convinced that their crisis is purely self-inflicted that has nothing to do with rest of the world.
It is prerequisite to understand that not all Arabs or Muslims hate Jews, (for example, I not hate Jews at all! Instead, I feel sympathy with them.), and vice-versa not all Jews hate Arabs and Muslims. Despite this fact, unfortunately both sides have antipathy and distrust for each other. In spite of all atrocities, must remember to those thousands of pious Jews who believe in the right of the Palestinians to their home land and pray desperately for peace that the both nations can live with peace and harmony. Quran called Jews and the Christians with honor ‘People of the Book’ and teaches that Muslims should treat them with respect as their own homie, this is the view about Jews and the Christians according the real Islam, traditional and practiced replica of Islam is not my concerned. The most important ground is their common belief and the faith in the one God of the entire macrocosm.
Apart of this, all the Jewish Prophets, including Moses (PBUH) and Abraham (PBUH) are honorable and respected by all Muslims without any discrimination or doubt and Muslim faith can not be completed without believe on Israeli Prophets (PBUH). Undoubtedly Jews and Arabs both are descendant of the Prophet Abraham (PBUH), but it is a lamentable fact that instead of developing mutual love as a result of these common grounds, the Jews and Muslims developed mutual animosity over the centuries. Despite so much misunderstanding and bemused situation between the Jewish and Muslims, in fact, there are several common factors that could instigate to have a better relationship instead of antagonism.
As a matter of fact, monotheist Islam and Judaism originating in same Semitic culture. On the contrary Christianity originated by interaction of ancient Greek and Hebrew cultures. Fundamentally Islam is very near to Judaism in its religious outlook, structure, jurisprudence and practice with the difference that traditionally Torah is in the scroll form and the Quran is in the codex form.
I want to assure that I adore and respect all human being including Muslims, what I am trying to say are to bring the truth in front of the Muslims to finally face reality and stop the game of hatred. What kind of this Muslims’ God who ordained his followers to kill more than 70% human beings of this planet if they don’t convert to Islam or being as dissenters; where it’s written in the holy Quran, I am not talking about so-called imposture “the Hadiths”? If Muslims are not ready to change and persist on such sick mentality then their persistence would end on disaster, waiting to happen.
Since the Muslims took control over the Arabian Peninsula until the born of the state of Israel in1948, due to the 20th century Zionist ideology; there were no direct wars and conflicts between Jews and Muslims, it is compulsory to ignore schadenfreude type psychos of both sides. Due the false ferment of stereotyping people, the ensued tension is rising day by day and it’s very difficult to change this demeanor that has become so deeply entrenched over the years.
With all due respect, I am not convinced with explanations for this animosity which goes all the way back to the Prophet Abraham (PBUH). The ancient root of bitterness between offspring of Prophet Isaac and Prophet Ismail (PBUH) has not any concern with all of the hostility between Jews and Muslims of our time. On the contrary, for thousands of year’s Middle Eastern history testifies that Jews and Arabs lived in peace and harmony with each other.
As a matter of fact, the primary cause of this hostility has political and economical origin. After dissolution of the Ottoman Empire and end of World War II, the United Nations gave a portion of the land which was inhabited by the Palestinians to the Jewish people as a new state Israel. Arabs protested vehemently against the Israel occupying their land. Since, there has been great abhorrence and bellicosity between tiny Israel and its Arab neighbors as Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Egypt.
I am curious and interested in Middle East politics because I spent 26 years in this volatile part of the world. I believe most of the Muslims would not share my sentiments about Israel’s moral right to existence. The situation in the Muslim world is envenoms and dangerous enough if you happen to be a friend of Israel. You can’t imagine the intensity of oppugn and confrontation against an alleged Muslim friend of Israel face in any Muslim country, you can’t afford to be.
The pattern of the history revels that the Babylonians, the Persians, the Romans, the Othman all civilizations after reaching their maturity, finally vanished. I am really astonished and do appreciate that contrary to every historical precedent this is not the case with the Jews, this small number of people scattered around the world continued to exert influence on history survived throughout four thousand years of human history. Our world population has now reached up to seven billion people. Demographic information revels that this population consists as 32% Christian, 23% Muslim, 15% Hindu, 7% Buddhist, and only 0.2% Jewish. There are only fourteen million Jews in the world. These are the Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole of humanity. Over the past century other than Peace Prizes, only three Nobel Prizes have been won by 1.7 billion Muslims, while fourteen million Jews have acquired one-hundred-eighty Nobel Prizes!
The most beneficent philanthropists in the world are also Jews, George Soros and Walter Annenberg is well known names in the list of top altruists in history.
I am compel to admit, without any prejudice that the Jews are the most persistent and tenacious nation in the entire human history.
I am very much convinced that war is the apotheosis of human doltishness. In all over the history, human population remained engaged in (most of the notorious wars were fought on the name of the GOD) miseries of wars due to two basic causes. Firstly, the abnegation to tolerate differences and secondly, the active enjoyment derived from hurting each other, although they can best voice their disapproval of such actions.
History is full of the examples that the word “God” used to justify cruel actions of war and violence. It is also common practice to even enjoy other’s pain, just by denouncing each other as an infidel, with the malicious believe that opponent is also destined for eternal agony. We forced to suffer other human beings for the sake of bounty of the God. We all get angry at others for various perceived offenses, and enjoy (meanest and nastiest mirth) with believe that our opponent is going to Hell, heedlessly of how much they already suffered in life. I am confident that no one would ever admit to it, of course, but it’s a primitive passion innate in human being, and precisely the contention of the ever holy war. Sounds interesting, does not it?
And what are these unbridled, bacchanalian horrendous wars, worst moments when human being can act with utter contempt for the rest of the human being; the invaders stormed, ransacked buildings and massacre of unarmed civilian’s even children, rape of the women, people tortured by varying methods and hacked to pieces. I can see and feel in the history that horses waded in blood up to their knees. All these brutalities in the name of the God, despite the fact that the Bible, the Quran and all other holy books stated, “Love your enemies, mercy, tolerance and forgiveness!”
Since the born of Israeli state there are more than a dozen wars have been fought again on the name of the God between the Israel and her neighbor Arab States, which weakened relations severely among these two monotheistic nations. It is diabolical and contemptible that everyone fought and still fighting on the name of the God. Both World Wars Allied leaders Woodrow Wilson of the United States, David Lloyd of Britain, Vittorio Orlando of Italy, and Georges Clemenceau of France, The aggressors Adolf Hitler, General Hideki Tojo, Benito Mussolini, The defenders Winston Churchill, Neville Chamberlain, Joseph Stalin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and recent Dictators Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, Hafez al-Assad and over-the-top two Bushes, Tony Blair, David Cameron, Taliban and Obama Bin Laden also, all were and are fighting on the name of the God!
I am a prominent supporter of Israel, strongly believe that the return of the Jews to their Holy land and the formation of the Israel are not against the Holy Quran or the Islam and there is nothing wrong in establishment of this country. There is no question or doubt that Jerusalem was established by the Israeli King cum Prophet David (PBUH) and his son Suleiman the magnificent who was also a Prophet (PBUH). Due to Jesus (PBUH) Jerusalem and Bethlehem are holiest cities for Christians too. As far as Muslims’ concerned their lull is mere a yarn or fairy tale, Night Journey or the ‘Isra Al Mirage’ of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is related to his migration from Mecca to Medina nothing concerned with Jerusalem.
There is rhetoric and there is a reality, obdurate Muslim educators have never officially revel the truth about the Israeli people and the real history and what Jerusalem means to Jewish nation. They are spoiling their generations by distorted history about the Jews and Jerusalem that it was a Muslim holy city simply because Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) dreamt one night that he went to the farthest mosque but he never meant it Jerusalem. According the history there was not any mosque situated at the time of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), and where it is mentioned in the Quran about any such ridiculously implausible journey to Jerusalem; on the contrary it is mentioned hundreds of times in the Bible as the heart and soul of the Jewish people. Frantic Muslims loosed all moral compass and never respect Jews’ religion or their holy city and always claimed them as Muslim land. Muslim conquerors convert Jewish Temple Mount 100 years after the Prophet Mohammed’s demised. Muslim conquerors built the mosque right on top of it. I winced at the thought; just imagine if Jews or Christians built a church or synagogue on the place of Kaaba in Mecca, how Muslims would feel.
If Muslims feel love, respect, attraction and affection for these holy cities or holy Israel due to Israeli Prophets, Jesus or due to any reason, I do not think Jews or Christians have any objection or there is any reason of brawl in it! Complications start when Muslims claim their only sole jurisdiction on these cities and want to evict real heir-apparent. According to my interpretation and as per Quranic verses, Jews have unconditional and fundamental right to dwell as a nation in their own land which God gave to the progeny of Prophet Jacob (PBUH), a grandson of Prophet Abraham (PBUH). I am quoting few verses of the Holy Quran, testifying the giving of a land known as ‘ISRAEL’ by the God himself to the Jews:
1. And We caused the people who were considered weak to inherit the eastern parts of the land and the western parts thereof, which We blessed. And the gracious word of thy Lord was fulfilled for the children of Israel because they were steadfast; and We destroyed all that Pharaoh and his people had built and all that they had erected. [Al-A`raf:138]
2. And after him We said to the children of Israel, ‘Dwell ye in the land; and when the time of the promise of the latter days comes, We shall bring you together out of various peoples.’ [Bani Isra'il:105]
3. And We assigned to the children of Israel an excellent abode, and We provided them with good things, and they differed not until there came to them the knowledge. Surely, thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that in which they differed. [Yunus:94]
4. And We saved him (Prophet Abraham PBUH) and Lot (PBUH) and brought them to the land which We blessed for the peoples. [Al-Anbiya:72] And We bestowed upon him Isaac (PBUH), and as a grandson, Jacob (PBUH), and We made all of them righteous. [Al-Anbiya:73]
Another point is also very clear from the Holy Quran that only God the cognizance, has the authority and ascendancy of animadversion or to ask regarding deeds of human being, not any other human being, and the God shall ask on the day of Resurrection not while we are all in examination on this planet. Suppose even Jews are wrong, sinful and at fault, then who gave any such authority to Muslims to castigate and censure Jews and hold them accountable? Apart of that, all wrong doings and sins which Muslims append and attribute with the Jews, in fact they and their holy ancestors are also tainted the same, since centuries. Hence morally Muslims are not in such position to animadvert Jews (an evil in which most people indulge). Jews are really so bad and evil then why God helped them and let them survived all over their history?
I am not the enemy of Arabs or non-Arab Muslims, but I also having soft corner as a human being for the Jews as well. I am speaking according my conscience; I respect and acknowledge Jewish’s right to live in peace in their teeny inherited homeland, Israel. I can realize and understand intensity of Muslims’ rage very well, it’s taboo to love or feel soft corner or wishing well for the Jews in Muslims’ aberrant doctrine. Even their beliefs have deprived them loving all of humanity as equals, resulting in self-imposed isolation and non-integration with other nations. This isolation and their so-called jihad against infidels has become increasingly difficult for themselves first, consequently they are irritated and cornered. Around the world mortified Muslims, unable to relate to the rest of the world are trying desperately to reform Islam’s image and deny the undeniable by patching. One hand they insist that Islam is a religion of peace;
on the other hand, hell-bent on conquering the world by force in the charade of Islam.
Muslims’ outlook about human life is absolutely pessimistic, describing it as meaningless, even laughing and giggling is objectionable and prohibited in their doctrine as being improper and that God do not like to laugh or chortle; with believe that Muslim’s life on this planet not created for happiness, everlasting happiness and pleasures will be only after dying in the paradise. Their rejection of life is not simply result of coincidence, since they do not feel any worth of life, then they must concurred death. This is the brief philosophy of behind so-called jihad. The result of this ideology emanate in the functioning of the Muslim’s individual personality, family life, society and in broad spectrum in the whole Muslim world, consisting 52 countries from Indonesia to the Morocco.
This ideology is by product of their Sharia books, you will find that the most excruciating and humiliating, atrocious corporal punishments, officially never approved in any civilized society on this planet, are highly appreciated in their dogma. Only a society and religion which promote and demands war and terror can promote such savageness. Muslims, dictated by Sharia, are deceived by such pretensions, hypocrisy and double life consequently they find it hard to be honest. Thereupon due to this dilemma entire Muslim world turned in dysfunctional society, and if any one point out their flaw or caviled on their mistake that treat Jews and others as human beings and not attribute them as enemies to conquer, they do not delay to label him “APOSTATE,” with death certificate.
My some ex-friends used to ask me: “They can understand that I am no more Muslim, but even being an apostate how can you support the Jews and the state of Israel?” Without consternation, I never take such questions seriously because I am very well aware Muslims’ mindset. Loving, accepting and feeling good about Jews is unthinkable and an act of treason to Islam itself. Muslims’ believe that Jews are the descendants of apes, pigs and they are enemy of the God forever, still use the same medieval dynamics. I have never heard from a single Muslim preacher to preach love for Jews and accept their human rights as Muslims’.
Any how, I am not concerned and bothered with Muslims’ believes, if they want to stay in schizophrenia in their envenomed lunatic asylums, be my guest! But my contention is that why they want to impose and foist such inferred life style on the Jews and rest of the world? Let them to live and enjoy their life right here on the earth which is also according the Quran as well.
Any one who has even basic understanding of Muslim’s faith and culture should aware their hostile rhetoric and tenets about Jews. Each Islamic country has separated multiple religious hierarchies, and none is intent or destined to acknowledge the leadership of any other. From medieval epoch to recent Mullahs, leading religious scholars, officials, Sheikhs all indulged in competition for just authority and power and not agree on any point on the name of Islam; even sighting of moon is a cause of contention in Muslims’ world. But I should praised and do applaud that at least they are united against the tiny state of Israel.
Despite vehement animosity among Shias and Sunnis, the two dominant factions of the Muslims, extremely vexatious relations, but their doctrine about the Israel is exactly the same; then I am not astonished when come to know about Iranian president Ahmadinejad’s repeated anti Israel views as he described, “Israel should wiped off the map,” that is the reason I am coerced to admit, Muslims are still not civilized.
The Arab Israel conflict is like a hot cake product in Muslim world as animosity is their religious duty against the Jews; I’ve experienced this trend personally. Being as a Muslim you are expected and qualified to hate and prejudice with the Jews and the state of Israel and if you are not then you are an apostate, atheist and heterodox. Moderate, liberal and free-thinking are the rear minorities in the Muslim world.
I support the right of the Jewish people to live in their own ancient homeland. And expect from every pious human being should favor of recognizing the right of Israel to exist. I feel that Israel is vital for the stability of this planet. I do praise and applaud the strength of the Jewish spirit that refused to surrender despite the thousand of years of barbaric treatment with them around the world. I am fully convinced that God created this earth and this world is incomplete without Jews and I would not hesitate to condemn to those who portray the Israelis as rapscallion, scoundrel or villains.
I not find any reason to condemn Israel, the only Middle Eastern state which surrendered by hostile Arab countries, with real democracy, regardless of religion or race extends equal rights to all her citizens. Muslims are also enjoying same rights in Israel as Jews; on the contrary non-Arab Muslims are ill treated, pariah and discriminated in any other Arab Muslim country including Saudi Arabia and oil rich Gulf States in the Middle East. Oil rich Muslim Gulf States of the Middle East are in fact police states, discrimination among human beings is their fundamental policy in every aspect of the society; openly racial bigotry, discreteness and injustice in jobs, medical services, government and private offices every where you will experience the same even in mosques. Arabs usually not feel comfortable and complacent to see a non Arab Muslim sitting in first row next to them for prayers.
Encroachment, transgression and discreteness are up to this extent that water and electric utility bills are different for different people in one country under one government. A continuum starts with minor transgressions and extended up to series criminal activities and violation of human rights in the all Muslim societies, and what a impudence that they really think and boosted, claimant that they are the only harbingers of human rights, manners and equality!
Despite the topsy-turvy situation of the Middle East, I strongly recommend and advise to the Israel and the Jews according to Psalm 122:6, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you [the Holy City]” Israel should seek peace, harmony and restrained despite provocative situation and offer respect for Arab neighbors regardless of their stubborn and uncompromised attitude.
Being as a sincere and real Muslim I really feel shame how Muslims has treated the Jews. I can simply admonish to Muslims to seek redemption and take pleasure of forgiveness and extend their hands for reconciliation and peace towards all human being including the Jewish.
Dear reader, I have written all above after in-depth study of Muslims’ history, Holy Quran and my personal 26 years long experience in the Arab world and to be honest, according to my conscience. I wish I could spend rest of my life in Jerusalem!
